Chevy Daze for a baby girl

This week I pieced together and quilted a Chevy Daze pattern for a customer. She was giving it as a gift today at a baby shower.  This fabric is "Spring House" by Moda.  It is so soft and feminine.  Rather than just quilt the Chevron in the center, I added a little ruffly border to each one.  Love the way it turned out.  If you look close you can see it on the back.

I love flowers too -- see my sweet hollyhock in the background -- matches perfect.

It started raining right when I was ready to take pictures or I would have tried to get a better close up of the front.  Being it turned into a rainy day here I spent more time in my quilting room and straightening the shop some.  We have this sweet little vintage wooden ironing board that we are using for a display.  Thought I would share a picture of it -- matches the Mimi yardage perfect.

Vintage ironing board stacked with quilts, fat quarters, jelly rolls and yardage.
Scrap baskets on the floor as well as a cute yellow bucket filled with Sasparilla fat quarter bundles.

I think I am going to sit down tonight, put my feet up and do some stitching.  These patterns for dish towels came in this week and I can't wait to make one up.  Which one would you make?  Animal Stackers or Fresh Picked, I love them both. Hmmmm.....

Happy sewing or stitchin' or whatever you are doing this weekend!

Nested Owl meets Wildflowers

This cute (and very long) table runner was a special order.  It was made using "Nested Owl Charcoal" and "Wildflowers" combined lines of fabric by Adorn It.  They are perfect together.  I love it when fabric lines are so versatile and interact so well together.  Two charm packs were combined, and sewn together.  Easy  peasy (love that term) and oh sooo cute!

The backing is Sunshine Word Play and the binding is Blue Grid Dot both by Adorn It.

Loving these fabrics.  Olie and I are working on sewing up a Chevron quilt with flowers using some of these fabrics to share with you (we have kits)!

Quilts, Quilts and more Quilts

I have been working on lots of fun customer quilts -- here's some glimpses for you ;o)  )

Christmas quilt with 3D pinwheel and trees with an overall background fill.

Lil' Rascals fabric runner with double loops

Wedding quilt (Queen) using a variation of the Disappearing 9 Patch

This was a panel of Mother Goose rhymes.  I custom designed this for a very special customer and used prints
from my 30's reproduction stash for a log cabin kind of look!

This queen quilt got a lot of attention with custom quilting.  It turned out beautiful.

Upcoming wedding quilt -- lots of squares and rectangles and different designs/words in each

Another glimpse of some different quilting on the blocks

This queen quilt turned out lovely with an overall leafy design that fit perfect with the fabric!
I have got to learn to start checking my pictures before I send the quilts back to their rightful owners!  I had some more but they turned out blurry so if yours isn't on here it's because I didn't have a decent picture to share.  Thanks Jasmine, Elaine, Derra, Debbie, Kathy and Barbara for letting me do your quilts!

Sasparilla

Sasparilla by October Afternoon arrived today!  So excited to have this fun line of fabric from Riley Blake in our shop.  This line features cowboys and cowgirls, bandanas, stars, plaids and stripes.  We have lots of fun ideas for it -- stop by and grab you some before it's all gone.

New patterns!

We have several new patterns in the shop to share.  Abbey Lane Quilts and Bits 'N Pieces.
The Abbey Lane patterns are so much fun to make and so versatile.
I made this one for Jasmine & Trevor's bed and it is absolutely beautiful!  I think this would be gorgeous out of the Chamberry collection by Adorn It.

This quilt is layer cake friendly -- and we have lots of layer cakes.  With a solid or print background this would be a fun quilt for a girl or a guy!

We have some ideas on fabric that will be in the shop soon for this pattern

Need just the right pattern for large prints?  This would be it!
Bits 'N Pieces is another pattern designer that you will love.  These patterns take 8 fat quarters, yep that's it, 8.  To complete the quilt you just need binding and 1 1/2 yards for the back.  Easy peasy!  I have made Crazy Eights several times in various fabrics and it is adorable.  It would go well with so many of the fat quarter bundles we carry in the shop.

Crazy 8s

I am seeing this one made up and being just as versatile and adorable.  Can't wait to make up a sample to share.

Twist 'N Turn
I hope you are all enjoying your summer and are finding some time to sew!

Christmas in July

Mark your calendars -- Tuesday July 16th we are having a little get together at my house and Olie and I will be demonstrating several fun projects made with charm packs.  I think at last count we had 8 or so different projects to share with you.  The demonstration will begin at 7:00 p.m. at 3472 East 400 North, Lewisville, Idaho.  Bring a friend, sister, mother, aunt, daughter, and join us.  I promise you will not be disappointed ;o) and we will be having a special discount for those of you who join us!  (Oh wait, that was supposed to be a surprise).

Also, Olie will be doing the jelly roll demonstration beginning at 6:00 p.m. if you missed it last month. Some of you ladies have brought your finished blocks or projects by for me to see and they are so fun -- every one of them looks a little bit different.  Many of you who are new to quilting have jumped right in and are doing amazing work!  Give yourself a pat on the back (and if you want, bring your finished projects with you for a little show and tell -- everyone loves to see what they look like when they are completed)!

We have some new fabric this week, AdornIt has a new line out called Chamberry.  We have some fat quarter bundles and are ordering some bolts that should be in soon.  The Wildflower and Nested Owls has done so well we are reordering some of it and even bringing in a couple more bolts we didn't get last time!  We also have quilt kits available for the Wildflower Chevron quilt and we will be doing some kits out of the Nested Owl Charcoal.  If you want to make something smaller we still have some 5" and 10" squares!

Several new precuts should also be arriving soon -- we keep checking for the UPS man every day ... biting our nails and counting the hours ... hope they arrive soon!

Our Two By Two pattern is free this month with the purchase of a jelly roll or layer cake.  This is a very fun and versatile quilt.

We have a sample quilt made from Simply Sweet layer cake that is absolutely adorable.  I made this one using a pattern we have in our shop, it's a darling table topper but I made this one bigger to use as a baby quilt.

We have more stitchery patterns, tea towels, quilt patterns ..... and we keep adding more!  Thanks for all of you who stopped by last weekend, it was great to see you and visit.

I am not posting pictures tonight -- I have been so tempted as I have quilted the projects for the demonstration, but you must just come and see!  Sadly, I have done several quilts for weddings I cannot share either ;o( because I wouldn't want to ruin all the fun surprises awaiting the newlyweds.

Celebrating the 4th of July

My pain is your gain!!!!  As I won't be going out for 4th of July festivities this weekend and am sequestered to the house, our little shop will be open over the holiday weekend.   Although we don't have air conditioning, it will be cooler inside than it is going to be outside.  Stop on by and see what's happening -- we will have an ice cold treat for you if you want one to cool off with!  Our shop hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. July 4th, 5th and 6th.  If you have friends or family visiting for the weekend bring them with!

We will be offering 10% off your purchase of notions, fabric and patterns to cool things down for you a little more ;o)

Also, during the month of July, with your purchase of a jelly roll or layer cake, you will receive the pattern "Two by Two" free!  The sample uses scraps of dots, but it would be very cute made from any scraps or line of fabric!  Hope to see you this weekend.
