Busy Beavers

BUSY BEAVERS …

Olie and I have not posted for a couple of weeks, but we have been busy little beavers.

First off, we MOVED OUR SHOP into its own little space at 3472 East 400 North, Lewisville, Idaho 83431.  Some painting had to happen for this to take place and we had to come up with some nifty ideas to display stuff – so far we haven’t done so bad.

Secondly we have been making sample quilts from some of our fabric.  We have the following quilts sewn ~

Nested Owl Coral by Adorn It
                Oink A Doodle by Moda
                Wildflower by Adorn It
                Sasparilla by Riley Blake
                BoHo by Moda

Currently in progress are:

                Prairie Rose by Riley Blake
                Boy Crazy by Riley Blake

~Quilting is a work in progress but Evie has some darling ideas to finish them up!

NEW IN THE SHOP THIS WEEK ... We have Gracie Girl by Riley Blake, including precuts in 5” and 10” squares and 2.5” strips and several bolts of yardage.  Come on by and visit us – we are open Saturday, August 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
And last – Just a reminder that on Friday, August 23rd,  is our FRIDAY FRENZY.  Come sew with us, visit, or get help on a project!  We think it’s a great way to finish off a week ;o)

Mark Your Calendars

It's August!!!  Olie and I have been in planning mode this week and are scheduling lots of new classes and events -- so mark your calendars!

First of all, we would like to introduce "Friday Frenzy".  Frenzy can mean all kinds of things according to the dictionary (i.e. out of control and temporary symptoms of a psychiatric disorder).  However, we are going to use it in the term "burst of activity -- a burst of energetic activity."  What does this mean to you?  On the 4th Friday evening of the month we will be getting together to sew, visit, or do nothing (whichever you prefer).  This will be an opportunity for you to get additional help or instruction, have time to sit and sew, start a new or even finish an old project.  The dates for the remainder of the year are as follows:  August 23rd, September 27th, October 25th and November 22nd (nothing in December -- I think we will be too tired)! We will begin at 6:30 p.m. and sew for as long as you want to stay (sorry -- no sleepovers)!  Space will be limited so we ask that if you plan on attending this event, you inform us at least 2 weeks prior to the event.  Thank you!

Just a reminder that our Quilt Therapy Day is scheduled for September 7th.  You may arrive to set up as early as 9:00 a.m. and get your scrap bags, the demonstration begins at 10:00 a.m. and we will sew for the day.  Please bring a pot luck item to share so we can take a lunch break and refuel.  We will be teaching two paper piecing techniques to make string quilts -- a great way to use up scraps from your projects (or ours)!  Just a reminder if you do not want to learn this technique, but would like to join us and work on a different project in progress, please come anyway.  The cost is $5.00 to assist with the cost of the community center and some of our fun give aways!!  Please RSVP to us for this event as well.

Our next Beginning Quilting Class is scheduled to begin September 25, 2013, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.   If you know of anyone who is interested in learning to sew quilts, this is a great way to do it.  I (Evie) cover all kinds of basics from quilting tools, choosing your fabric(s), piecing with precuts, squaring blocks, sashing, borders, piecing backs and binding.  The class will only be taught one one night a week this go round so again, class size will be limited.  The cost will be $50.00 and you will complete a runner and a quilt top (homework is required)!  Rather than have the class run for 8 weeks, I am going to try and cut it down to 5 weeks, but it will require one Saturday to complete instruction and projects.

Even more fun news is that we are in the process of moving our shop into its own little space at the Lewisville address and we will be having regular hours (which will be announced soon).  This is very exciting for us and we are working hard on getting additional items in stock and having samples made. We will be having an Open House for September 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with demonstrations at 11:00 a.m. and again at 2:00 p.m..  Further details to be announced later.  In the meantime, we are still available for you to come by and make purchases evenings and on Saturdays if you just e-mail or call to see if I'm home!  We also have our items listed on Etsy which allows you to view items we have in stock (Olie works very hard at keeping these items current).  However, we know it's funner to see in person and would love to have you come by.

You may not know but we do accept credit cards ... Discover, American Express, Visa and Mastercard.  You can also purchase through PayPal.  Good thing Olie has some technology skills (Evie just likes to think up all kinds of projects for her to take care of ... if you don't believe me just ask her!)

Last but not least -- our next tentative Quilt Therapy Day is Saturday, January 11, 2013!!!  This go round we will be doing a fun project using fat quarters.

I have a new favorite saying thanks to a dear friend who gave me a new little plaque ...

... And Sew On
Evie
