HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

After much promising and lots of questions -- we are ready to make our big announcement!  In responding to your questions here we go -- NO I am not getting married -- nor are either of our single children getting married -- in other words no new additions to either of our families!!!

However, we are changing the prices at our shop -- life changing you say?  Well, yes it is.  We know that quilting is, how shall we put it (clear throat) -- a rather expensive hobby.  We are not increasing our prices, but rather LOWERING them even more.  We can't list each individual price here, but we can give you an idea of the new pricing structure.

Yardage (Moda, Riley Blake, Adorn It and Henry Glass) -- $8.50 per yard
Moda and Adorn It layer cakes and jelly rolls  -- $32.25 each
Moda and Adorn It charm packs -- $7.85 each
Moda Mini charms - $3.30 each
Moda and Adorn It fat quarter and fat eighth bundles have also been reduced.
Individual fat quarters - $2.15 each
Moda Bella solids are priced at $6.50 per yard
Riley Blake charms, jelly rolls, and layer cakes range from $5.95 to $17.25
Patterns and notions are also reduced

Since opening our shop this year we have tried to offer many different sales or discounts.  As costs of cotton have increased significantly over the past few years, we hope that you would rather save money every day on your quilting purchases than have to wait for a special sale or savings event to purchase something you would like.  Sew ... there you go!  If you have not been to our shop -- come by.  You can also find us online at www.olieandevie.com or on Etsy.

We currently carry Moda, Riley Blake and Adorn It fabric in our shop.  We have lots of new precuts in ... Grant Park, Chance of Flowers, Winter Wonderland, Token of Friendship, April Showers ... and more on the way.  In addition, we recently added some flannel that would be darling for receiving blankets, backs of quilts or other projects.  For those of you that like to do stitchery/embroidery we also have muslin.

We recently ordered yardage from Henry Glass and it should be arriving any day!!!

We are adding additional classes and demonstrations for the beginning, confident beginner and intermediate quilters and will keep you posted of dates and times!

We cant say it enough -- thank you for all of your support and patronage this past year.  We are certainly looking forward to a wonderful 2014 and hope yours is happy and prosperous!

Quilt Therapy - Postage Stamp Quilt

Can you believe it?  Our quarterly quilt therapy day is almost here!  We will be making a postage stamp quilt this time around and they are so much fun.  I love how each one has its own individual look.  Let us know as soon possible if you plan to participate.  The cost is $5.00 which goes towards  renting the Lewisville Community Center.

All you need to do is stop by the shop and pick up your jelly roll and background fabric.  Bring your own machine, sewing supplies and something to share for our pot luck luncheon.  If you haven't been to one of our quilt therapy days before, it's a fun time.  You will get lots of instruction and individual assistance as you need it and you can sew to your heart's content!

Date:  January 11, 2014
Demonstration time:  10:00 a.m.
Place:  Lewisville Community Center

Here are a few photos to help you get a little more excited!!!  Invite your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers -- anyone who can sew a straight seam.  It will help with the cold January winter blues I PROMISE!!!!  That's why we call it our Quilt Therapy :o)

We have lots of jelly rolls in the shop right now -- French General, Sandy Gervais, Kate Spain, Kansas Troubles, Minick & Simpson, Eric & Julie Comstock and even our Rolie Polies from Riley Blake would work great in making a baby or toddler quilt!  Call or e-mail and let us know if we should add your name to the list!

We are not planning on bringing a lot of inventory on the day of the class so PLEASE stop by before and pick up your supplies.  If you have a jelly roll you want to use already, that's fine too!  See you on the 11th!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Ready or not -- Christmas is almost here!  The "must have by Christmas" quilts for customers are finished and out the door, now we are taking time to breathe and have a little down time with family and friends before gearing up for the new year!!  Remember -- we still have a very important announcement to make, watch for more details coming soon, but right now we are ready to spend some time with our wonderful children and adorable grandchildren!!

Our holiday hours at the shop are as follows:
Closed Wednesday, December 25th
Thursday, December 26th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
New Years Day from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, January 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, January 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
... and then classes begin!

I was able to complete a personal holiday quilt this season and I love it.  The fabric is from Sweetwater's Countdown to Christmas line, which is long gone -- I quilted it with an allover hollyberry panto.  It snowed in Idaho on Saturday and was a perfect setting for an outdoor picture.

Olie and I had talked about someday having a little shop of our own.  It has been less than a year since we held our first Beginning Quilting Class and we have had so much fun and are enjoying this journey.  Thank you for your support and patronage, we couldn't do it without you!

We sincerely wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  May it be filled with Peace, Love, Hope and Joy.

Last month of the year....

.. it can't possibly be December already!!!  I know Thanksgiving was last week, I quilted .... and I'm still quilting .... and probably will be quilting until Christmas Eve!!!  I go to work, come home and quilt or maybe sit and bind, my house is a mess, barely keeping up on the laundry, no Christmas decorations up ... and my fingers are sore ... but I am loving it!  Every time someone picks up a quilt and are happy with it I get all warm and fuzzy inside.  I want to share pictures, but they are gifts that my customers have worked hard on and I can't ruin their surprises.  We are working hard, I am giving Olie a new nickname -- "The Mug Rug Queen"!  She is making the cutest mug rugs and they seem to sale just as fast as she gets them done.

We have not completed class calendars for next year, but do have the following confirmed:

January 7th - our next beginning quilting class starts.  This class will be held in Idaho Falls.  If you are from Jefferson County area and are still interested in taking this class, please contact me.  It is possible another one will be taught at the shop on a Thursday evening or Saturday morning.

January 11th - Quilt Therapy Day.  We are getting lots of inquiries about this demonstration.  It requires a jelly roll and background fabric.  The cost is $5.00 and if you want to participate, please sign up now.  What a fun way to spend a winter day, with good friends and good food.  We can hardly wait!!!

January 28th - Olie & Evie will be demonstrating at the Shelley Library Quilt Show at 5:30 p.m.   We have a new ruler to demonstrate using 2 1/2" and 1 1/2" strips, and will again be demonstrating the spectacular method for jelly rolls that looks like you spent hours piecing.  Also, we will have some samples to show you some different finishing methods.

We also have some great news to ring in the year 2014 -- life changing news -- both for us and our wonderful customers ... so, stay tuned because December will be gone before you know it.
... I am going back to my quilting machine now! ;o)
