Nifty Notion - January

The dictionary describes "nifty" as:  very good or effective.  With that being said each month we will be introducing a new "nifty" notion and give a description (and hopefully a photo of a sample) of something we have made using the notion.  It might be a bit of a challenge, but we certainly like trying new things and love to share them so here goes!!


May I introduce you to the BasiX rulers. 

Patricia Pepe of Quilt Queen Designs is the creator of X-Blocks and BasiX templates, books and patterns. The rulers come in two sizes for use with 1 1/2" strips (Honey Buns) and 2 1/2" strips (Jelly Rolls).  You can also use them with Charm Packs and Layer Cakes.  


The BasiX template comes with it's own carrying case, full instructions, 2 bonus patterns and extra hints and tips.

The sample pictured below is one of the free patterns included with your ruler.  It rocks!

For a different twist -- isn't this design amazing and so much fun?!  4th of July here we come, we will definitely be using this template to make something fun to display in the shop!!!

With that said, this ruler is a blast!  Easy to use and you can come up with so many designs.  Olie used it with a Chance of Flowers charm pack to come up with this darling quilt (I can't wait to get it quilted) --
