Despite all the happenings going on around here at Olie & Evie, I was able to get a few personal projects finished for Olie and myself this month. Thought you folks might like to see a few photos of some fun projects we completed!
I have had Olie's quilt at my house for months (well since Christmas 2012) she pieced from Countdown to Christmas by Sweetwater using the pattern "a la mode" by Thimble Blossoms. So with the weather here in Idaho being so bleak and feeling a lot like winter weather I quilted it up. Pretty darn cute and Olie will be all ready for Christmas.
Here's another finish using the fabric Mama Said Sew -- another Sweetwater fabric line. (Don't worry, we have them all and more to come)! The pattern used was from Carolina Patchworks called "Sweet Garden." This isn't Olie's personal favorite, but I am loving it -- so it had a personal invitation to stay at my house and accepted!!! I'm so lucky -- thanks Olie ;o)
Olie made this sweet little table runner for her mother-in-law from a fabric line called "Grandmother's House." She used a charm pack and added a little border. No pattern, just something we came up for our beginning quilting class. It is definitely going to be cherished at her mother-in-law's house. I experimented with a darker color thread on the cream border -- not sure about it but Olie is good about letting me experiment and she liked it just fine.
Lastly, we made another quilt from Snap Pop by Sandy Gervais using our very own pattern "Oh My Hex!" It's just as bright and fun as the green one featured on the cover of our pattern. Both are pictured here . . .
Hope you enjoyed viewing them as much as we enjoyed making them!

Happenings ...
It seems like time goes by too quickly and I fall behind on posting on the blog, but we have been very busy here at Olie & Evie. We just finished two more quilts which we are in the process of writing up patterns for, so keep your eyes open for those. One of the patterns will be free with the purchase of a jelly roll or layer cake!!!
Rhonda has been quilting every single day this past week. A blog post isn't complete without pictures so here are a couple more Melly quilts from class. Some of the other projects are secret because they are gifts for unknowing recipients (it's such a small world) and I would not want to ruin any surprises.
Keep in mind these are the same pattern using different fabrics -- you can totally take a pattern and make it your own!
We have new items that will be in our Etsy shop soon. A couple of new bolts of fabric from Riley Blake and more precuts -- Too Cute to Spook, Flutter, On The Go, A Simple Life, and Life In the Jungle!! It is so much fun to open boxes when they arrive and admire each one. Tasha Noel is becoming another one of my favorite designers (like I need more!). We did get some charm packs of A Simple Life and still have a couple of Little Red Riding Hood left so you had better get them before I decide to hide them and keep them for myself. Check out her blog at http://tashahorsley.typepad.com/alittlesweetness/ and you can see why it's going to be difficult to part with them. Rumor has it there will be a new fabric line out soon that was introduced at Spring Market in Portland.
We have come up with our class schedule. Due to the summer months being so busy for everyone, we are offering two different demonstrations on weeknights -- so schedule an hour or so for yourself and learn some fun things to do with precuts. There will be some sneak peeks posted occasionally so check in.
June 20th - Olie will be stepping out of her comfort zone and giving this demonstration using a jelly roll that you will not want to miss. She just finished sewing the sample (it is darling, of course) and Evie will be getting it quilted up right away.
July 16th - Christmas in July. We will have at least 5 or 6 different projects to show you which use charm squares. Lots of quick and easy variations you will love. Start thinking now about who you would love to make a homemade project for the holidays.
September 7th - "Quilt Therapy" day at the Lewisville Community Center. Evie will be demonstrating a quilt using "strings" so come and spend a very fun day sewing with friends and visiting. The last quilt therapy day was a success. The kids will be back in school, vacations will have ended, and most of your husbands will be in the fields -- so why not????

Quilt Therapy
Our scrappy trip quilt class on May 4th was a great success -- lots of sewing, visiting, give aways and a super pot luck luncheon! I believe quilting is very therapeutic and I hope a great day was had by all. Thanks to all who supported this class by not only your attendance, but also helping in setting up and cleaning up. In addition, I have to put in a plug here for The Lewisville Community Center, it worked perfect for us to meet in. Please, please e-mail pictures of your quilts when they are completed to olieandevie@gmail.com so we can post pictures ..... in the meantime, here are a few photos taken during class.
Jasmine should receive the award for the most blocks sewn by one individual during class!
(Rumor has it that her quilt top is complete ;o)
Everyone working away -- clueless of their picture being taken.
Visiting ....
And more sewing ...
Not to mention concentrating ...
Random blocks placed on the design wall. This is a great way to view a quilt layout.
Thanks again for all of your support! I just LOVE sewing with y'all.
Watch for more quilt therapy days coming soon!!

Monster Bash
Shannon completed her "Melly" quilt from the beginning quilting class using the fabric line Monster Bash and brought it over for quilting. I chose a "spider web" overall design. I love it -- and best of all so did Shannon! Great job Shannon. Thank you for participating in the class and allowing me to quilt for you.

Looks great with the striped border and the pattern blended perfect with the backing fabric she chose ;o)

The Pattern Basket
Check out these brand new patterns we just added to our etsy shop from The Pattern Basket. They would be darling table toppers, quilts or wall hangings, in almost any design/color wave. We have been drooling over these and will be sewing these up for for our own personal quilt collections and will post photos. Start looking for your favorite precut to sew one up for yourself! (We are leaning towards the Boho collection by Urban Chik and hopefully some Baby Jane by Cosmo Cricket)
